This is a great website that matches up teachers and donors for needed school supplies, etc. I used it extensively in another state, but it doesn't seem to be used much around here, which is why I'm posting today. If you know a teacher who could use some help buying things for the classroom, please let them know about this website. There are a few listed on there, but none have any Wish Lists (items they want), leaving donors at a loss for what to do and how to help. Again, the website is iloveschools.com...free for the teachers and free for the donors, though they do ask if we want to add a little extra to our donation to help with administrative costs.

Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program (Wilmington, NC)

CTRP, Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program is holding it's monthly Volunteer Orientation Saturday, November 7th, at 9 AM, at 3507 N Kerr Ave. We are a horse back riding program that offers therapeutic riding lessons to special needs children and adults. We certainly couldn't provide this unique and extremely helpful form of therapy without our amazing volunteers!!! Most of our volunteers agree that they feel like they are getting just as much out of volunteering as our riders get through therapy. Come on out this Saturday, with close toed shoes and clothes suited for the barn. Meet the horses, Alice the Pot belly pig, and Eeyore the Miniature donkey, and learn what our program is all about, and how to get the horses ready for the lessons.

Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program (CTRP) is the realization of a dream of parents, professionals and caring people in our community. CTRP is a non-profit program, teaching therapeutic and recreational horseback riding to children and adults with special needs. We began offering our services in 1999.
What is therapeutic horseback riding?
Thereapeutic riding uses the equine-oriented activities for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of people with special needs. Therapeutic riding provides benefits in the areas of education, sports, recreation, and medicine to individuals with a wide range of disabilities and special needs. The rhythmic action of the horses' gaits relaxes and strengthens riders' muscles and improves body tone, posture, balance, joint mobility and coordination.

No horse experience is required, we will "show you the ropes," and teach you what you need to know. If you have any questions, just shoot us an email. Have a great week, and hopefully we'll see you at the barn!

Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer global movement that shares free vegetarian/vegan meals as a protest to war and poverty. We collect surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from grocery stores, bakeries and markets, and local farmers, then prepare community meals which are served for free to anyone who is hungry. The central beliefs of the group are:

If governments and corporations around the world spent as much time and energy on feeding people as they do on war, no one would go hungry.

There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, but too much of it goes to waste needlessly, as a direct result of capitalism and militarism.

Vegan food is both healthy and nonviolent.

Food Not Bombs works to call attention to poverty and homelessness in society by sharing food in public places and facilitating gatherings of poor and homeless people.

Anyone who wants to cook may cook, and anyone who wants to eat may eat. Food Not Bombs strives to include everyone.

My son is an ex Marine, decorated. He retired and got a medical out due to PTSD. He has not received but two checks. One in the amount of 4200. which his ex wife hacked into his bank account and stole. The Marines said she could do it because they are still married. He got help from the Red cross twice and that was for rent and food. they won't help him again. He received one check in the amount of 881. and paid his rent and thought he would start getting his money but the veterans affairs said he has to show competency before his money can come in and that could be months. My son spent two tours in Irag. Went over at 18 and came back at 23. He now has an eviction notice and no food, no where to go but back home. He can't rent a uhaul for the few things he does own and is ready to give up. I don't know if their is anyone out there willing to help him get the uhaul he needs so he can feel like he did something good for his country and isn't being punished. I am so worried he will say to hell with it and end his life. Please if there is anyone that can help him contact me at my email address and I can give you his number. This is for real. You can meet him and he can show you his papers. And prove he is a decorated Marine who has been lost to the system. He calls Veterans affairs daily, writes them the official papers showing his competency and Nothing. If anyone can help I promise you will make him believe in something again. Thank you, a concerned mother. 910-599- 8130
